Biota eDNA Water Samplers

Our Water Sampling Technology

Our range of water samplers are designed to make capturing biological material from water faster, systematic and more accessible. Our solutions can be deployed for semi or fully automated sampling.

Biota eDNA Water Sampler

A lightweight, single-sample device purpose-built for eDNA and biochemical sampling and filtration. Designed for portable use, it automatically records volume and pressure, ensuring samples can be normalised for comparison. Unlike traditional manual eDNA syringe filtration, which is tiring, inconsistent and operator-dependent, the WS-1 delivers a standardised, reproducible workflow. The WS-1 can operate with a Lab Stand making it suitable for lab and field based tasks.

Features & Benefits

  • Repeatable, High Biological Sample Yield
  • Rapid, Systematic & Accessible/Inclusive eDNA Sampling
  • Manual or Event-Driven Triggering
  • Integrated Sample Preservation Functionality

Biota Molecular Analysis Point (MAP)

Biota MAP is a multi-sample monitoring system. Using adaptive triggering it is designed to capture biological and chemical samples from water. Up-to 12 water samples can be captured, filtered and preserved in response to trigger events, such as a sonde parameters. The MAP transforms biomonitoring from scheduled spot-checks into event-driven science. The Biota MAP web interface provides live system updates and notifications, such as when samples are ready to collect - see the MAP flyer for more information.

Features & Benefits

Additional Details

We are currently working towards releasing full datasheets and pricing for our technologies. As these solutions are new and rapidly evolving, we are prioritising real-world deployments and pilot studies with partners who want to push environmental monitoring forward.
If you would like more in-depth technical details, or to explore how our technologies could be applied in your setting, please get in touch. We would be delighted to share specifications, discuss pilot opportunities, and learn how we can support your monitoring goals.

Software User Interface

Our samplers are Bluetooth enabled and operated via a dedicated Android app. The app provides complete control of the samplers as well as recording key sampling data such as accumulated volume and pressure. Stop conditions of time, max. pressure or volume can be set to allow consistency between samples.

The app also allows for sample organisation and management, allowing the user to log GPS coordinates and create sampling session names.

External and third party sensor data, such as sonde, imaging and audio, is also available through the app.
